I have a strong passion for printed artwork, as it is an incredible experience to execute designs from the conceptual and digital stage to 3D reality! I am well acquainted with the print process and working with outside vendors to produce the final rendering.
My background consists of working with a variety of materials, textures and sizes. Smaller projects include business cards, door hangers, brochures, invitations, menus, magazines, books, flyers, event tickets, microphone flags, t-shirts, etc.
Larger projects vary from outdoor signage, feather flags, banners, step-and-repeat backdrops, kiosk advertisements, floor/wall clings, life-size interactive cut-outs, 3D wall displays, and more!
Digital graphics are a fun way to explore brand identity in an ever-changing way! The following graphics have been displayed in a variety of formats, ranging from large scale LED tv screens to email blasts, Youtube, website and social media platforms.
As the Lead Graphic Designer at Casual Fridays, I was asked to collaborate with KAABOO Del Mar to update and modernize their brand identity. I was asked to keep their current color scheme, background pattern, and fonts- but to use them in a way that evokes a sense of playfulness, energy, and artistic flair.
Research, strategy, and proposals for rebranding.
Vector graphics are one of favorite mediums to work with because they scale to any size and offer a fun, playful vibe to any piece! The artwork displayed is a mix of purchased vector art (edited) and hand drawn elements.
I assisted Interior Designer Joel Lilliquist, from La-Z-Boy Arizona, to upgrade the Casual Fridays' headquarters office in San Diego. My responsibilities included: creating mock-up renderings of the office, presenting spacial ideas to the CEO, finding paint colors to match the brand style guide, purchasing accessories, creating and printing over 50 custom pieces (displayed via photo frames), making large-scale custom art for the walls, negotiating pricing, and administrative scheduling for specialized outsource work.
As a Freelance Junior Production Designer, I worked on (2 separate) bi-annual special issues of New York Magazine Weddings. As a design team of two, I was fortunate to be very "hands on" with this project. I created page layouts, photo rendition mock-ups, prepared/updated the proof-book with ad placements, oversaw the flow of pages through production (proofs to blue-line) and color correction, updated mood-boards, photo selects, and the wall of the most recent layout choices.
After working with New York Magazine on their Weddings issue, I was asked to help develop a new special edition magazine that centered around home decor. I worked closely with the Freelance Art Director, Mickey Pangilinan, to create a look-and-feel unique to New York Magazine.

As a short-term Freelance Graphic Designer, I was contracted to help the design team for one month. I was given (mostly) templated pages and a specific theme to follow.

Please note that the art provided was created by the design team at Life & Style Magazine, I provided the photos for them to use within the page layouts. As a Photo Editor I was responsible for obtaining specific images based on the direction of interest per story as described by the Director of Photography, Liam Galvin. I used MediaGrid to sort through various photos provided by photography agents, and upon selection, negotiated pricing. It was part of my duty to adhere to a specific budget, and to create weekly usage reports based on the photo department's spendings.I was also in contact with merchandise vendors, as the magazine frequently received fashion accessories and beauty products to photograph in-house.
As the Features Designer for the Union Tribune newspaper, I oversaw their weekly edition of Night+Day magazine from print through production. My duties consisted of conceptualization, project delegation, layout design, and production work. Once the magazine was sent out for print, I would assist in designing various sections of the daily paper.
